This summer has been fairly wet and weird in regards to the weather, but the sun definitely shone on Rhys and Ashleigh's beautiful wedding back at the beginning of August. We started off in Caldy on the Wirral for bridal prep and their lovely church service and then everyone joined in convoy for the drive over to Soughton Hall in North Wales - not many people can say they had their wedding in two different countries on the same day can they!
Bridal prep was the perfect mix of chaos and calm. But as soon as Ashleigh stepped in to her stunning dress, helped by her lovely mum, she was cool as a cucumber - and wow what a bride she made! The dress was so perfectly simple yet striking; I just loved the flow of the skirt and the back was so so pretty.
The whole day was gorgeous from start to finish. Ashleigh and Rhys were guests at two of my previous weddings so I saw a lot of familiar faces and even one of my beautiful couples (hey Jade and Ross and your wonderful dancing!) so I felt like part of the gang. My first highlight of the day was definitely climbing out of a window onto a tiny little roof/balcony to take a group photo - I now need to consider/assess all possibilities of this in the future and dress accordingly! (note to self...dresses are possibly not the right attire for this. Who knew?) My second absolutely has to be the epic bouquet catch by Ashleigh's mum; it was like a proper slow motion moment where everything went quiet for a second and she leapt for her life and there was absolutely no WAY anyone else was catching those flowers. A brilliant moment and the reactions have made some priceless photos for sure. Amazing!
Ashleigh and Rhys were an absolute dream to photograph. I pride myself in not working in a regimented way, I document the day from start to finish and when I do couple shots I want to give as little direction as possible and I really did not have to say too much at all - you would be forgiven for thinking this was an actual magazine shoot! Absolute naturals in front of the camera. Thank you so much for making it so easy for me!
And the evening entertainment - who knew rugby players had all the moves?! Rhys and his rugby chums - cheered on/watched in awe by their significant others - really made that dancefloor their own. When I first started shooting weddings I used to stand on the sidelines of the dancefloor and almost didn't want to intrude or get in the way - oh how that has changed! You will now find me right in the middle of all the action, dodging arms and legs and having a little bop myself. I love it!
Thank you so so much Ashleigh and Rhys and of course your family and friends; I had the best day celebrating with you all and I am so happy you chose me to be a part of your amazing day and that you love your images. Hopefully this blog post has prolonged the wedding buzz a little longer before you both have to go back to school next week and hopefully I will be seeing you both at many more weddings in the future! Congratulations!
Lots of love xx
