A Love Letter to Italian Weddings: Rosie and Chris’s Magical Day in Santa Maria di Castellabate

Oh Italy, you capture my heart time and again. It's no secret that Italy is my ultimate sanctuary, making the opportunity to photograph weddings here an absolute dream come true.

This particular wedding holds an special place in my heart for countless reasons, including the moment I crossed paths with Steve (keep an eye out for him in the background!). Compiling this blog post has been a journey through nostalgia, igniting a longing for Italy’s sun-drenched landscapes and incredible atmosphere.

The adventure to Hotel Garden Riviera felt like a scene straight out of "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles"—yes, I experienced all three modes of transport completely by myself, hoping I could get there in one piece! From my arrival to the day I had to drag myself home, I was enveloped in an atmosphere of love and joy, wishing it would never end.

Rosie and Chris’s wedding took place in the enchanting town of Santa Maria di Castellabate, a hidden gem in Italy’s crown and a testament to the country’s unspoiled beauty. Orchestrated by Julie of My Secret Italy, who affectionately dubs Santa Maria as Twinkle Town, their wedding was a masterpiece of love and meticulous planning. It’s easy to see why Santa Maria is the quintessential spot for saying "I do."

Rosie looked beautiful in her Charlotte Balbier dress, embodying every bit the princess she felt and looked, her elegance accentuated by a sweeping floor-length veil. Chris opted for a waistcoat over a traditional jacket— a wise choice in the Italian summer heat, where fans and lots of water are essential!

Following their traditional Catholic ceremony, the intimate streets of Castellabate led us to a quaint courtyard for celebratory drinks and canapés. Stealing the couple away for some personal time (and photographs) in the most stunning of hidden spots, we then moved to the idyllic setting of Restaurant Belvedere for the evening’s festivities. The day was punctuated with heartfelt speeches, a stunning first dance, spectacular fireworks, and the unforgettable Maieutike Band, keeping us dancing until the (very!) early hours.
